Graphon CLI

Install & login

Install the graphon CLI with one command on macOS, Linux, or Windows, sign in, update, and uninstall.

What it is

graphon is the Graphon command-line tool. It calls the Graphon API and the Graphon Storage API as the signed-in user. Use it to manage workspaces, members, keys, buckets, and objects from a terminal, a script, or a coding agent, and to search a bucket, ask it a question, or run research with graphon search, graphon ask, graphon chat, and graphon research.

Install

Run one command. It needs no admin rights and asks no questions. You do not need Node.js.

Open Terminal and run the command. It installs graphon in ~/.local/bin and adds that folder to your PATH.

curl -fsSL https://beta.graphon.ai/install.sh | sh

Open a new terminal, then check the install:

graphon --version

graphon login opens your browser to approve the login, then stores a refresh token on your machine. Use --device on a machine with no browser.

graphon login
# On a machine with no browser, use the device flow:
graphon login --device

Updates

graphon updates itself in the background, at most once an hour. A command never waits for an update. The next command runs the new version. A normal update downloads about 50 KB. Each update must carry a valid Graphon signature.

graphon update # update now
curl -fsSL https://beta.graphon.ai/install.sh | sh -s -- 0.1.2681 # pin a version and stop the background update
  • Auto-update is off when CI is set, and on an install of a specific version.
  • After an update, a terminal shows graphon updated 0.1.2680 → 0.1.2681 on stderr, at most once a day. Update messages never go to stdout.

Install a specific version

Name a version to install it. The install then stays on that version until you run graphon update.

curl -fsSL https://beta.graphon.ai/install.sh | sh -s -- 0.1.2681

Install in a coding agent or CI

--no-modify-path leaves your shell profiles unchanged. --quiet prints nothing on success. A second run with the current version changes nothing. In CI, sign in with an API key in GRAPHON_API_KEY instead of graphon login.

curl -fsSL https://beta.graphon.ai/install.sh | sh -s -- --no-modify-path --quiet
"$HOME/.local/bin/graphon" --version

Supported platforms

SystemCPUs
macOSApple silicon and Intel
Linux (glibc)x64 and arm64
Linux (musl, for example Alpine)x64 and arm64
Windowsx64 and arm64

Alpine Linux

The musl build needs two system libraries. Install them first.
apk add libstdc++ libgcc

Uninstall

graphon uninstall # remove graphon, keep your logins
graphon uninstall --purge # also log out and remove the config

Troubleshooting

graphon: command not found

Open a new terminal. If the shell still cannot find graphon, add ~/.local/bin to your PATH:

export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"

Check the install

graphon doctor prints the version, the install path, the auto-update state, and the result of the last update check. It makes no network call.

graphon doctor
